Developing Self-Esteem

1.      You can help develop a child’s self esteem by being careful what you say to your child.  How you perceive your child matters offer them praise it lets them know that you love them and that you are proud of them.

2.    You can help develop a child’s self esteem by being a role model by showing them that you love yourself it teaches them how to love themselves.

3.    You can help develop a child’s self esteem by correcting what your child may perceive as negative for example, “I am not pretty” or “I have a big nose” correct your child let her know she is the most beautiful child in the world.

4.    You can help develop a child’s self esteem Give out HUGS let your child know YOU love them by showing affection HUGS are wonderful not just because it’s a special occasion but just because.

5.     You can help develop a child’s self esteem by acknowledging your child has feelings.  Help the child find positive ways to deal with feelings such as anger in a positive way rather than acting out of anger.

6.    You can help develop a child’s self esteem by encouraging your child to get involved in positive activities such as church groups or mentoring programs.

7.     You can help develop a child’s self esteem by having a healthy environment.  Loving parents=HAPPY KID vs. Arguing parents=DEPRESSED KID soooo let’s go with loving parents
